What happens during an annual exam?

We proudly offer comprehensive and compassionate annual exams on an outpatient basis at our clinic on the Baptist Health campus, and our team is expertly trained to handle all types of women's health issues. Regular annual exams provide a snapshot of your overall health and are the best way to take control of your personal health and wellness journey! 

Your exam will include a basic review of your medical history, and you should be prepared to discuss any new symptoms that you’ve encountered since your last exam. Be sure to also let us know about all of your current prescriptions, as well as any over-the-counter medications or supplements you currently use on a regular basis.

You’ll receive a pelvic examination to assess your sexual and reproductive health and a clinical breast exam to detect any hardening, thickening, lumps, or other changes in each layer of breast tissue. The exam might also include additional procedures as needed, such as an ultrasound examination, urinalysis, or a pap smear to screen for cervical cancer and human papillomavirus (HPV). Women aged 35 and up should schedule 3D Mammograms at least annually, and women who experience certain symptoms may want to start regular mammograms earlier. Be sure to remember to perform breast self-examinations at home on at least a monthly basis, and contact us immediately if you feel any thickening or lumps in your breast tissues.
